About the event
Gabriel Fauré, a key 19th/20th-century French composer, is known for his captivating music. But how does it resonate with modern listeners? To explore this on the composer's 100th death anniversary, cellist Aleksandra Pykacz joined by pianist Shirley Wu will perform Fauré's cello and piano works, from their upcoming album Fauré Now and Then.
Fauré Now and Then is an album with seven compositions for cello and piano by Gabriel Fauré: Sicilienne, Après un rêve, Élégie, Sérénade, Papillon, Berceuse and Romance.
The title can be interpreted as a wordplay on the expression "Now and Then", meaning both "Fauré Sometimes, on Occassion" and "The Music from Then, performed Now".
The concert will take place on 3rd November and the Album will be available on all the major streaming platforms on 4th November, the actual 100th death anniversary of Gabriel Fauré.
